Defaults drift towards fewer prompts
Vendors switch agent features on by default and remove confirmation steps for users, even as admin controls tighten.
The pattern so far
From late August 2026 the defaults that users meet moved towards fewer confirmations: Auto-approve options, agent platforms on by default, file returns without approval, low-risk actions allowed without asking. It runs in the opposite direction to the tightening of admin settings, often at the same vendors, and it is the pairing that matters: the control moves to the administrator while the user sees fewer prompts.
Trajectory
Month by month
- Confirmed Reconstructed
The defaults moved at four vendors in one month. Salesforce turned the Agentforce platform on by default, Claude Chat stopped asking for approval when it hands back a file, ChatGPT Health defaults to allowing low-risk actions and Word access was set to on by default from 1 October, and Antigravity's plan review policy can skip review altogether.
- Agentforce Platform is enabled by default for new orgs and rolling to existing ones.
- Chat no longer asks for approval when Claude hands back a file it produced.
- Health connections default to 'Allow low-risk actions'.
- ChatGPT for Word access is enabled by default from 1 October 2026.
- Antigravity's Plan Review Policy can skip plan review.
