Week 35, 2026
Coverage window 14 – 27 August 2026.
This edition covers two weeks. There is no Week 34 edition; that gap is a planned skip rather than a missing record, and everything published between 14 and 27 August is captured here.
For the interpretation of this fortnight, why the agent’s write scope moved from the campaign to the configuration and what a €825 million Article 22 penalty has to do with marketing decisioning, see the companion essay: Weekly MarTech Signals That Matter to Me: Part 17, Week 35. This page is the record; the essay is the read.
This fortnight’s record
The agent got write access to the machine itself, at three vendors in eight days, and none of them published a revocation path.
- Tealium shipped a Configuration MCP on 26 August that lets an AI agent read and update the server-side profile configuration in natural language, then shipped Studio on 27 August, a chat interface over the same configuration that explicitly does not modify or publish anything. Two agent surfaces over one system, a day apart, one read-only by design.
- Braze made Operator generally available on 20 August with the ability to create and edit Canvases from a natural-language description, navigate itself to other dashboard pages, and act on report builders, user import, predictions and settings surfaces, with an Auto-approve actions setting that removes the confirmation step.
- Salesforce took Data 360 MCP to general availability on 19 August, roughly 200 APIs including audience segment creation, and expanded Headless 360 across Marketing, Sales, Service, Commerce, MuleSoft, Informatica and Tableau with 100-plus reusable Agent Skills.
- The Dutch data protection authority fined Uber €824,990,000 on 21 August for fully automated decisions about drivers taken with no human assessment, and for not adequately informing them that the decisions were automated. The conduct ran from 2018 to 2022. Not a marketing case, but the largest number yet attached to the absence of a human in a consequential automated decision.
- OpenAI brought ChatGPT Ads to 31 European countries including Italy, announced 18 August and live from 24 August, with an OpenAI Pixel, a Conversions API and third-party measurement integrations, oCPC bidding, geographic targeting and custom audiences.
- Optimove published an actual write boundary for its MCP server: missions are created as drafts requiring manual activation, and the MCP cannot edit or delete existing Gamify entities. With OpenAI’s Admin plugin, one of only two published agent write boundaries this fortnight.
- Pega moved the other way on 18 August with T-Switch explainability, an Ethical Bias Check that runs before deployment, a Customer Profile Viewer for decision transparency, and a contact-governance partnership with Gryphon.
- Quiet hours became a tenant-level default at two vendors in three days: Braze workspace quiet hours (20 August, early access) and Adobe Quiet Hours in Orchestrated Campaigns (18 August).
- Adobe Journey Optimizer B2B began signing AI-generated and AI-edited images with C2PA metadata in the 2026.8 release, the first content-provenance marking to ship inside a marketing execution platform on this watchlist.
MoEngage’s published MCP session lifetime of 30 days, or 7 days idle, remains the only session-lifetime number any vendor on this watchlist has put in writing.

| FTC (regulatory)Proposed, in comment (Aug 19)Regulation | Proposed enforcement policy statement on personalized pricing, 19 August. The FTC seeks public comment on how it intends to use Section 5 against undisclosed personalized pricing: the undisclosed collection or use of personal data to set individualised prices could be an unfair or deceptive practice, and representing or implying that a price is static when it varies by individual risks misleading consumers. Comment period runs 30 days from Federal Register publication. A proposed policy statement, not a rule and not an enforcement action. | FTC press release |

Twilio states Gmail is rolling out warnings on non-HTTPS links by the end of October 2026 and that tracking links without SSL will see reduced click-through, which makes this a deliverability deadline for every branded tracking domain, at every ESP. 19 August: Verify fraud-prevention geo permissions tightened for Italy and Argentina, default moving from “Allow all traffic” to “Monitor all traffic for fraud” after a rise in SMS pumping. 14 August: Bulk Messaging supports WhatsApp Content Templates in beta, with per-recipient personalisation and fallback strategies including WhatsApp to SMS and RCS to WhatsApp. Deadlines confirmed: certificate rotation 9 September; Functions Classic 13 September and 14 September to 26 October; Event Streams US East IP and new TFV and A2P 10DLC error codes 15 September. | Uber / Dutch DPA (regulatory)Enforced (Aug 21)Regulation | €824,990,000 fine, 21 August. The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens fined UBER for taking fully automated decisions about drivers. Software tracked driving behaviour and customer ratings; on suspected fraud, or where ratings were too low, accounts were deactivated automatically, temporarily at first and permanently where low ratings persisted, cutting off the driver’s income through Uber for the duration. No human assessment was involved. Two violations: the prohibition on fully automated decision-making, and a failure to adequately inform drivers that the decisions were automated. The conduct ran from 2018 to 2022 and the authority states Uber has ended it. The CNIL, which cooperated, published its note on 24 August; several trade summaries carry that as the decision date. The issuing authority’s date is 21 August. Not a marketing case, and recorded here because the exposure attaches to the decision, its effect on a person, and whether a human was in it, rather than to the technology used. | Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens · CNIL |
| Dutch DPA (regulatory)Effective 1 Sep 2026 (Aug 27)Regulation | GDPR sanctions become mandatory to publish from 1 September 2026, announced 27 August. A change in Dutch law obliges the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens to publish fines and other GDPR sanctions; until now it did so under its own policy. The authority’s stated reason is legal certainty and legal protection, so that organisations can see which standards it applies and what follows from not meeting them. From next week the published Dutch enforcement record becomes complete rather than discretionary, which makes it a more reliable input to a risk case. | Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens |
No changes this fortnight (scanned, nothing net-new)
Scanned for the 14–27 August window with no net-new release:
- Bloomreach (newsroom): newest item 13 August, an Inc. 5000 listing. The product release is captured above.
- Braze (newsroom): newest item 7 July.
- HubSpot: newest company-news item remains the 11 August Agent CLI customer story reported in Week 33. What Agent CLI is, and what it can write, remains undocumented for a second edition.
- IAB Tech Lab: newest press release remains 11 August. The GPP public comment window for the Fifth Amended MSPA is still open until 11 September 2026.
- Garante: no movement on the email open-tracking pixel guidance. The compliance term remains 29 October 2026.
- CNIL: nothing new on the email pixel recommendation; the Uber sanction is captured above.
- Klaviyo (newsroom): items in window are corporate: K:BOS 2026 and the Singapore Asia headquarters.
- Pacvue: two award announcements, 11 and 25 August. No product release.
- Showpad: newest press item 23 July.
- Sprinklr: a board appointment on 13 August and a results date on 12 August. Latest product release remains 15 July.
- Zeotap: newest blog item 7 July.
- 6sense: the MCP server is still titled Beta in the support documentation. General availability was expected in August and has not been announced.
Not verified this edition
Stated plainly rather than presented as a clean scan.
- Salesforce Account Engagement. Not separately verified, now that a readable route to the Salesforce release notes exists. Carried to the next edition.
- Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Cordial. No readable newsroom route reached.
- 6sense. Newsroom and blog unreachable by either scan route. The support documentation is reachable and still titles the MCP server (Beta); general availability was expected in August and has not been announced.
- Adobe Experience Platform write-time profile consolidation, stated in July as rolling out through the end of that month, has no published completion notice for a third edition.
A note on method, because it changed the edition
This edition was scanned twice. The first pass ran without the browser and used full-page retrieval with complete text extraction; the second pass re-read every material source in the browser. Across roughly a dozen sources the two agreed exactly, including the Adobe release notes, Braze, Klaviyo, Iterable and the CDP Institute feed. The second pass changed three things and they are all reflected above: the Salesforce release notes turned out to be readable after all, the OpenAI newsroom turned out to hold two items this record would otherwise have missed, and the Optimove MCP entry turned out to carry a published write boundary that a summarised read had dropped. Where a source was reachable by only one route, this record says so.
Detected, not traced to a primary source
Surfaced by the detection layer and deliberately not reported as fact: Hightouch framing its CDP around agentic customer access (26 Aug), Airbyte adding semantic search and data-access governance to its agents platform (26 Aug), Cloudera restructuring around Anywhere Cloud (19 and 21 Aug), Fanplayr Catalog Intelligence (27 Aug), QueryStory (27 Aug), Ours Privacy $15M Series A (25 Aug), Dash Social MCP (20 Aug), Guzu.ai (20 Aug), InMobi conversational deal discovery (20 Aug), Uniphore Marketing AI (19 Aug), McDonald’s global loyalty data consolidation (18 Aug), the New Jersey Kids Code enacted 18 August, Israel’s under-15 social media resolution (25 Aug), Brazil’s ANPD order to Discord (18 Aug), and the FTC’s $23.8M Grubhub distribution (18 Aug).
Watching next (Week 36)
- Marketo
access_tokenremoval on 31 August, four days after this edition closed. - Adobe AI expression generation in journeys reaching GA on 31 August, and Braze Azure Blob Storage CDI the same week.
- Salesforce Winter ‘27 moving out of preview, and the Headless 360 and Data 360 change logs, which can now be diffed week by week for the first time. Specifically what the API Catalog Connect REST API does for MCP server registration and revocation.
- ChatGPT Ads in Europe: whether the OpenAI Pixel routes through standard tag management and consent frameworks, whether the Conversions API gets first-party connectors at Tealium, Segment and Adobe, and whether self-service Ads Manager arrives this quarter as promised.
- MoEngage’s August release, now overdue.
- Braze’s remote MCP server, a fourth edition without an early-access exit or a published permission model, confirmed absent from the 20 August release.
- Klaviyo MCP governance, still one sentence, now against two published boundaries elsewhere.
- The New Jersey Kids Code, to be traced to the enacted text.
- Hightouch, LiveRamp and Publicis, unresolved for a tenth week, plus the untraced 26 August Hightouch announcement.
- Salesforce Account Engagement, on the newly readable route.
How this is compiled. Each edition is assembled from official vendor release notes, changelogs, and corporate newsrooms, with AI assistance for the first-pass scan, then reviewed and edited by me before publishing. Items are checked against the primary source and anything I could not confirm is flagged inline. Dates and status reflect what was published as of the current as of date and can change. A note on method for this edition: the usual browser-based scan was unavailable, so pages were retrieved and converted in full rather than summarised, and client-rendered pages were read through their own machine-readable routes. Every item above was read at the primary source.
Corrections and method notes. If something here is wrong or has moved on, tell me and it will be corrected in the next edition. Two corrections to record this fortnight. First, Insider One’s Zero Copy Segmentation for Snowflake was dated 27 August by an industry news feed; the vendor newsroom dates it 2 June 2026, so it is not an item in this window and does not appear above. Second, the same feed dated the FTC personalized pricing statement 25 August (the FTC dates it 19 August), the Salesforce Headless 360 expansion 21 August (Salesforce dates it 19 August), and the Pega responsible AI release 21 August (Pega’s dateline is 18 August). Aggregator listings are used here to find stories and never to date them.
Two further dating notes. The Uber decision is dated 21 August by the issuing authority, the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens; the CNIL, which cooperated, published on 24 August, and several trade summaries carry the later date. The earlier record here used 24 August and has been corrected. And Insider One’s Zero-Copy Segmentation for Snowflake was announced on 2 June 2026, so it does not belong in this window at all despite appearing at the top of an industry feed dated 27 August.
MarTech Watch is compiled and edited by Andrea Veggiani, Head of Cross-Channel Marketing & MarTech Solutions at BitBang.
