Week 41, 2026
Coverage window 2 – 8 October 2026.
For the interpretation of this week, and why what an assistant shows and what a draft carries are now design decisions, see the companion essay: Weekly AI Tools That Matter to Me: Part 11, Week 41. This page is the record; the essay is the read.
This week’s record

- Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5, halved Sonnet 5.5 cache-read prices, added monthly API credits to Max and Team plans, and expanded its Cyber Verification Program into three access tiers.
- Claude Desktop stopped computer use on macOS from editing hidden files in the home folder, and gave administrators an allowlist for importing Claude.ai history.
- Gemini Enterprise previewed a federated query mode that reads data in place through MCP with each user’s own credentials, and gave administrators controls over Antigravity’s Boost and Teamwork features.
- Google Docs and Drive now open, edit and preview Markdown files natively.

How this is compiled. Each edition is assembled from official release notes, changelogs and newsrooms. An AI assistant does the first-pass scan, reading release notes in a browser or through vendor-published Markdown routes, and I review and edit before publishing. Items are checked against the primary source; anything I could not confirm is marked as such. Dates and statuses reflect what was published as of the current-as-of date and can change.
Corrections and method notes. Spot an error? Tell me and I will fix it in the next edition. Anthropic’s marking page (updated 7 October) was added after a re-read during essay preparation on 8 October. Two items dated 1 October were published after the previous edition’s scan and appear here as late captures.
AI Watch is compiled and edited by Andrea Veggiani, Head of Cross-Channel Marketing & MarTech Solutions at BitBang.
