One frontier model landed in this window, and it was not sold on capability. The more consequential movement was in the control plane.
- Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 (24 July), framed around long-running agents, with extended thinking always on and a five-level effort selector in the desktop model picker.
- Anthropic Claude Desktop added the
mcpPersistentAlwaysAllowEnabledmanaged configuration key (24 July), letting administrators disable persistent “Always allow” approvals for MCP tools while keeping session-scoped approvals. - Google Gemini Enterprise shipped Transparent thinking to GA (27 July), surfacing reasoning and tool activity in the interface, plus a GA Microsoft Teams federated connector and Gemini 3.6 Flash in the US multi-region with data residency.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot made MCP-built agents callable inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook on the web, behind an admin review-and-approve flow for org-built agents.
- Google Antigravity shipped 2.4.3 (28 July) with preview tabs,
.json/.md/.csvattachments and MCP timeouts.

- Google: Gemini 3.6 Flash beyond the allowlist; further Gemini Enterprise connector GAs.
- Antigravity: the rest of the 2.4.x line.
- Cross-beat: whether the agent-side permission model (admin keys, review gates, session-scoped approvals) and the platform-side MCP scope model (Braze, Showpad, Adobe, 6sense) converge, or stay two separate models configured by two separate teams. This is the question both series now share.
